About the role
Join our content team as a videographer, filming street interviews and social content about rent, housing, and city life in New York, Boston, San Francisco, or London. Your videos will be seen by millions of people across our Instagram and TikTok portfolio, including Girls Who Sublet and our university pages in each city.
We're looking for someone with experience filming and editing short-form social content. You should be comfortable shooting on either a newer iPhone or a professional camera, and you need access to high-quality microphones and audio equipment.
This is a creative, hands-on role for someone who understands what makes content perform on TikTok and Instagram. You should have a strong eye for framing, lighting, audio, pacing, and editing, and genuinely enjoy creating content designed to go viral.
You will be behind the camera. You'll work with an interviewer who approaches people and conducts the interviews, while you focus on capturing high-quality footage and turning it into engaging short-form videos. Our interviewers are women who found Ohana through Girls Who Sublet and our university pages in each city.
Pay is $35 per hour. The two of you need to get four interviews an hour.
What you'll do
Film street interviews in the busiest parts of your city, including SoHo, the West Village, and Williamsburg in New York; Newbury Street, Back Bay, and Harvard Square in Boston; the Mission, North Beach, and Hayes Valley in San Francisco; and Soho, Shoreditch, Camden, Notting Hill, Brixton, and Clapham in London.
Shoot high-quality vertical video using an iPhone or professional camera.
Set up and manage microphones and audio so interviews sound great.
Work alongside an interviewer and help identify strong locations, shots, and content opportunities.
Get four interviews an hour.
Edit footage into tight, engaging TikTok and Instagram Reels.
Add captions, cuts, hooks, and other elements that improve retention and engagement.
Help experiment with new formats and ideas designed to create viral content.
