About Ohana

Our mission is to give everyone the freedom to live where they want, when they want. For guests, Ohana provides the freedom to transition to the place they want to live; for hosts, the peace of mind that their rent is covered by a trusted subtenant.

Founded in 2023, we're backed by Neo, Wave Capital, Lightbank, and 75 & Sunny — including Zillow's co-founder & CEO and Airbnb's Head of Payments, Data Science, Engineering, and M&A.

About the role

We're looking for entrepreneurial people who eventually want to learn how to build a startup before creating their own.

This isn't a traditional sales or partnerships role. You'll work directly with the founders of Ohana, get exposure to nearly every part of building a startup, and take ownership of expanding growth strategies we've spent the last three years figuring out.

You'll see firsthand how we think about product, growth, operations, hiring, fundraising, partnerships, and expansion, while being responsible for growing one of the most important parts of the business.

What we've figured out

Since starting Ohana, we've developed several growth strategies that have allowed us to build one of the largest subletting marketplaces in New York.

Now we want to take what works and scale it.

  • Content: Our social media and community pages generate more than 100 million views every 90 days.
  • Community: We've built community-led growth strategies focused on specific groups, including Chinese international students, where Ohana has reached significant penetration.
  • Employer partnerships: We've worked with companies including OpenAI, Palantir, Oracle, and others to help their interns and new hires find housing.
  • Professional supply: We partner with furnished housing providers and property managers that can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars, and in some cases approach $1 million per month, through Ohana.

Why this role is different

We want this to be one of the best jobs you could take before starting a company yourself.

You'll work closely with the founders and get exposure to questions most people don't encounter until they start their own company: How do you find a growth channel that actually works? How do you turn something that worked once into a repeatable system? How do you hire and manage people around the world? How do you raise money? How do you enter a new market? How do you convince major companies to work with a startup? How do you keep growing when the obvious strategies don't work?

You'll also have real responsibility. We don't want someone sitting in meetings watching other people build the company. We want someone who can own a meaningful part of Ohana's growth.

What you'll do

Your primary focus will be growing our partnerships with companies and professional housing providers.

You'll be supported by our operations and sales team in South Africa, who can help with prospecting, outreach, follow-ups, data entry, and administrative work.

Your job is not to spend your day doing administrative work. Your job is to figure out where the opportunities are, build the relationships, and make them successful.

  • Finding and onboarding new professional housing providers.

  • Helping existing providers grow from their first booking to $50K, $100K, and eventually hundreds of thousands of dollars per month through Ohana.

  • Building relationships with companies whose interns and new hires need short-term housing.

  • Turning employer partnerships into repeatable sources of demand.

  • Making sure the supply we bring onto Ohana matches what our employer partners and customers actually need.

  • Identifying new partnership opportunities and figuring out how to make them work.

  • Developing playbooks that can be repeated by the broader team.

  • Deepening our presence in New York, London, Boston, and San Francisco before helping us expand these strategies into new markets.

About you

You might be a great fit if:

We're not looking for someone who has already done this exact job. We're looking for someone with the ambition and raw ability to figure it out.

If you want to start a company one day, come help us build this one first.

  • You think you want to start a company someday.

  • You're unusually entrepreneurial and resourceful.

  • You're comfortable reaching out to people you've never met and figuring out how to get in the room.

  • You can build relationships with everyone from startup founders to HR teams to major real estate operators.

  • You're analytical enough to understand why something is working and operational enough to make it repeatable.

  • You don't need a detailed playbook before getting started.

  • You want responsibility earlier in your career than a traditional company would give you.

  • You're competitive and excited by ambitious goals.

  • You care more about learning, ownership, and impact than having a narrowly defined job.
